When ashley from the blog cherished bliss wrote and asked me to help her with the plans for an outdoor table with x legs and a herringbone top i was totally honored but i knew i had my work cut out for me.
Then we dyed the trim with behlen black alcohol dye glued and nailed it into place with a ryobi 18ga brad nailer.
With the exception of a few pieces of scrap 1 x 4 s this table top was built entirely out of cheap construction grade studs.
After flipping the table over we cut 1 1 2 strips of maple to trim out the edges of the table and routed the top and bottom corners with a 1 4 roundover bit.
I went to work on the plans and after talking with ashely we decided to go with a 4 4 x leg with lap joint.
I decided i wanted my wood pieces to be four times as long as they are wide to give a nice even pattern.
In this video i walk you through the steps i use to set up my herringbone top tables.
The rest of the table will be the subject of a future video.
