You don t have to worry about messing with the powerful springs in your garage door so you can safely fix the misaligned garage door rollers without calling a professional. Chain driven garage door openers should have some slack in the chain for optimal performance. Over time though this slack can increase or the gear and sprocket assembly can wear and the chain may pop off the sprockets. To start the process check overhead for a rope that connects the opener to the door.

Look for a rope and handle dangling from the center of the door opener track. Separate the garage door opener from the door. Raise and lower the door manually to ensure it is operating properly. Pull the rope in order to release the door from the opener.

If you find that your garage door opener chain falls off the track on which it has been placed you will need to put it back up and then tighten the chain to stop this happening in the future. This allows you to operate the door manually.
